QuartzCrystal Composition Renderer

Project timespan: March 2008 to present

QuartzCrystal, a new Mac OS X tool for rendering Quartz Compositions to movie files, has just been released on our daughter site kineme.net and features support for all QC plugins and patches as well as spatial supersampling (antialiasing). QuartzCrystal is a Mac OS X application for rendering Quartz Compositions to QuickTime Movies. It supports 3rd Party plugins (Both Official and Unofficial API), as well as unsafe patches. It also supports up to 8x Spatial Supersampling (Antialiasing). This is not the same thing as OpenGL's "Full-Scene Anti-Aliasing" (FSAA) --- it's better. When you enable Spatial Supersampling, QuartzCrystal renders your composition at the specified multiple of your target size, and then applies a high-quality scaling filter to reduce the rendered image to the intended size. All parts of your composition get the same supersampling treatment --- not just lines and poly edges (or whatever your video card supports) as is the case with OpenGL FSAA.Read more

Al Gore uses application developed by Kosada

Posted on Jan 17, 2012

Former Vice President Al Gore, former Governor Jennifer Granholm, and “The Young Turks” host Cenk Uygur used the UltimateLogger application, which was developed by Kosada, to prepare commentary for a recent GOP presidential debate.

Gore, Granholm, and Uygur used UltimateLogger while watching the debate to bookmark clips they wanted to talk about in Current TV's post-debate analysis. Through a custom user interface designed specifically for the debate, they logged the time and some details about each clip at the touch of a button.

Commissioned and designed by Christopher Keath, UltimateLogger was originally created for use by sportscasters. But its support for customized user interfaces made it the perfect candidate for the GOP debate.

"Everyone was impressed," said Keath.

Performance Inspector

Project timespan: January 2009 to present

Misconfigured patches can eat up memory at an exponential rate, killing your compositions. Or the problem can lurk more subtly, making the compositions jumpy or just slow. Unlike the built-in profiling tools, Performance Inspector performs a patch-by-patch analysis of the performance of your compositions while they're running, providing you with detailed information on which patches, exactly, are slowing your composition down. Technical info and purchase info available from kineme.net, as always. Quartz Composer Kineme performance inspector screenshot shows patches
