The Sexual Assault Prevention Program of southeastern Ohio needed something up-to-date to put on their brochures. It had to be eye-catching and youthful, but still in line with the seriousness of the issue. It also had to express that while women are most often the victims of sexual violence, the issue truly affects the whole community. And while the phenomenon of sexual assault is one that degrades the individual, the logo also had to convey a potential for empowerment.

What we came up with was a map of the tri-county area that the program serves, with a stream of many different people going by as one woman stands, perhaps precariously, but looking hopefully upward, in the foreground. We used an informal font to give a down-to-earth feel, and muted yet vibrant colors paired with a slightly distressed texture to make the overall effect look a little retro rather than outdated.Read more

Stephanie had just completed some classes in botanical illustration and wanted to begin selling her art. She commissioned us for a logo to put on her business cards. Based on one of her illustrations, we created an elegant and lively vector drawing that would look good at any size, keeping in mind the possibility for future growth of her business and potential need for high-quality, scalable branding graphics.Read more

These weren't for any actual clients, it was just an internal project prompted by the ever-present demand for low-cost graphic design. We figured, when you go to a hair salon or a tattoo shop, you get a book of sort of generic samples, partly to give you ideas, and partly for reference when discussing artistic possibilities and directions. So why not when you go to the web- or graphic designer? Along with a new website, the Midwest Pediatric Nephrology Consortium needed a revamp of their logo. Formerly, their logo image was a hard-to-see drawing in dull colors that existed only as an nth-generation, poorly compressed .jpg file. The concept – superimposing the Great Lakes and the outline of the states of the region inside a kidney – was great, but the outlines were difficult to discern, and the overall effect was not eye-catching. Kosada gave it new life by redrawing it with bold curves and colors.Read more
