"Against the Grain"

The Kosada Logo was designed in 2003, the year before we officially incorporated as a company. Thus, its development occurred alongside and as an extension of the development of the philosophy and direction of the company itself, with the founding members huddled around a dining room table in Hilliard, Ohio. The design process proceeded as four steps:
- The phrase "against the grain" was suggested as a guiding principle.
- Sketches were made as to what this might look like when interpreted literally.
- These sketches were then abstracted and rendered using a vector-art package.
- The "grain" was rendered to resemble a conceptual plot of sound waves, to underscore Kosada's significant media focus.
